Heating oil price update newsletter June 2014
Hello!
It has been some considerable time since I have been in touch, I’m certainly not one to bombard you with pointless emails! However, I thought it was time for a price up date and also to take the opportunity to welcome all of you who have signed up for news through My Consortium’s website.
Price update
The mild winter this year meant that the price of heating oil did not go to the horribly high levels we have experienced in previous years, so that was a relief. The highest prices were in December, the only time that there was a slightly higher demand, and then it rose to 58ppl maximum and that was very short lived. Most of the winter the price averaged around 54p/l + VAT.
In recent months the price has fallen to the low 50s, which is the best price we have seen in many years. So might be time to buy.
Price alert
As well as giving you an update on what has been happening I also have to tell you that there is a real threat of a rise in the price right now due to the Iraq crisis. Already this morning Brent Crude has risen by over $1 a barrel which is a significant increase and one that will reflect in the price of heating oil over the next couple of days.
Hopefully this trend will be short lived and the price will correct itself back down as the news moves on to other stories. But if you want to get the best price at the moment you had better be quick! I’m on 01476 861884 all day.
Oil supplier antics
I am often given information from My Consortium Members about direct approaches from suppliers and other information about prices etc which is always really useful and thanks to those who keep me posted.
One increasing comment I am hearing is that the Chandlers supposed ‘buying group’ is not as competitive anymore and that My Consortium is more often offering lower prices and certainly a much more flexible and personal service. So I urge you to be cautious and by all means compare prices with me before you commit to other offers.
I have also had several Members mention that Brobot call them to say they ‘just happen to have a delivery in your area’ and there is space on the load should you wish to order. In all cases that I have been told of Brobot have been quoting at least 3p/l more than My Consortium can buy at so again please be cautious. I know it’s convenient because they are calling up but you will be paying too much I’m afraid.
Do check in with me on 01476 861884 or lisapoole@myconsortium.co.uk before you take the plunge.
Castle Bytham Summer Festival Sunday 22 June 2014
If you fancy a day out locally then Castle Bytham Summer Festival offers great entertainment with lots of stalls, events and live music. Tim and I will be there with a stand promoting the only sensible way to buy oil and firewood (!!) so please come and say hello, it is always great to meet the Members. We hope to see you there.
Spreading the word
My Consortium continues to grow at a fantastic rate and that is mostly due to you, the Members, by letting friends, family and neighbours know about the group and the savings they can make. Thank you, as always for the great recommendations and please keep up the good work!
That’s it from me for now – so have a great summer and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
